Chicago Blues coming to Palm Springs!
Event Details
Winner of the CV Independent’s Best Local Band for two years running, thisdynamic husband and wife team bring their Chicago sound to the desert.
Veteran bluesman Gary Gand handles the six strings, driving the band, channeling a bit of Freddie King, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck rolled into one. Keyboardist Joan Gand grooves on classic Hammond B-3 style organ and blues piano with inspiration from Booker T, Ray Charles, and Otis Spann, all while her left hand is laying down the bass.
Throughout this series of 3 concerts, special guests will join the Gand Band including top notch performers from both Chicago and San Diego.
The Gand Band appears in the new film,"My Name is Lopez" - a documentary about 60s celebrity vocalist/actor Trini Lopez. Trini was a frequent guest performer until his death in 2020.
"The Gand Band brings great music from Chicago to Palm Springs" - Desert Sun News
29 year old Ivy Ford, "Chicago's Blues Kitten" started her career opening for Buddy Guy when she was 15 years old, and hasn't looked back. Now considered one of the leading youngbloods of blues she brings a refreshing yet classic face to the music. She handles the 6 strings with as much confidence as any of the bluesmen today and can belt out notes to fill a room and serenade a phrase sweeter than sugar in ways that make anyone and everyone tune in to what she has to say. Ford always respects the history and tradition of roots and blues music, while giving it a new energy with her dynamic performances
